Many of these links came from postings to one of these free discussion group e-mail lists, which can provide a wonderful support group and a wealth of ideas.

  • Home-Ed List, an open forum for discussion of issues related to homeschooling, including * Reasons for homeschooling. * Learning experiences of homeschooling families. * Philosophical discussions about learning. * Picks and pans of various learning materials. * How to design or select a homeschooling curriculum. * Interest-initiated learning. * Unit studies. * Parenting issues.* Practical discussions about family projects, hobbies, and outings. * Social banter and Pure fluff.

  • The Unschooling List is for anyone who is interested in discussing unschooling ~ experiences, advice, questions, and theory. This list will undoubtedly reflect the varying "degrees" of unschooling. Most will agree, however, that trusting a child's ability to learn and providing a stimulating and diverse environment define the essence of unschooling.   • Home Based Learning Network does not endorse any specific philosophy of education or parenting except to promote awareness of educational alternatives. To subscribe, send a message to majordomo@flora.ottawa.on.ca with the BODY (not subject) of the message being: subscribe home-based-learning

  • The home-ed-kids list is a mailing list for homeschooled kids. To subscribe send mail to: majordomo@sara.zia.com with subscribe home-ed-kids in the body of the message...

  • The montessori-l mailing list is a forum for the discussion of the Montessori teaching method. The list is currently moderated and welcomes Montessori teachers, parents with children attending Montessori schools, parents homeschooling their children via the Montessori method and everyone who is interested in the Montessori education of children at any age. It is a place to share information, lesson plans or ideas, to ask questions, to discuss problems and successes. Send email to listserv@listserv.aol.com; in the body of the message, type SUBSCRIBE MONTESSORI-L followed by your real name (at least two separate words)

  • HIGHSCHOOL-HOME-ED is for discussion of high school homeschooling. Discussion will be limited to homeschooling high school age students since other lists on the internet provide support for younger students and other homeschooling topics. To subscribe to this list:
