To play music requires focus, concentration, a turning away from the concerns and distractions of the outer world... to direct the magical energy of our attention on the creation of a beauty that only exists in the "now" of each passing moment of sound. Playing music is an act of meditation.

To truly hear music requires the emotions, the intuition, a laying aside of the judgments born from the restrictions of using only the rational intellect... bypassing the critical process to let the healing vibrations of sound harmonize our bodies, quiet our fears, and allow us to receive the song of our inner voice of wisdom. Hearing music is an opening of the heart.
