Location and Directions
~ Directions to Unity Center ~
2041 Old Fanning Bridge Road,
Mills River NC 28759
Detour at the Intersection of HWY 280 and Old Fanning Bridge Road
- Take I-26 to Exit 40 ("Airport, Arden"); turn West (toward the airport) on Airport Road.
- Go 1.5 mile, PAST the airport parking lots & runways and the Broadmoor golf course, turn Right onto Old Fanning Bridge Road (past the arena and fairgrounds) (Small sign: "Welcome to Henderson County" and large green sign: "Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Center").
- Go 2 miles, across the river, past the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Center. Unity Center will be on your Left (1/2 mile before the intersection with Route 191).
From Brevard or Etowah:
- Take Rt. 280 (Boyleston Hwy, the "Brevard connector") to Mills River
- Go 1.2 miles past Food Lion, then turn Left on Rt. 191 North (Old Haywood Road) (at traffic light; brown sign for "Powhatan Recreation Area")
- Go 1.4 miles and turn Right on Old Fanning Bridge Road (green sign for "Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Center")
- Go 1/2 mile (past McKinney's Small Fruits) to Unity Center - on your Right.
From west Henderson county or HorseShoe :
- Take Rt. 191 to Mills River
- Turn Right on Rt. 280/191 (Boyleston Hwy, the "Brevard connector")
- Go 1.2 miles and turn Left on Rt. 191 North (Old Haywood Road) (at traffic light: brown sign for "Powhatan Recreation Area")

About our beautiful facilities
The Chapel is in half of an octagon that is 40 feet high in the center, with clerestory windows. The back wall of the stage features a commissioned artwork: a stained glass mosaic that depicts points of energy and light coming together in Spirit and love, at a wellspring set in the mountains, as it passes thru all four seasons of natural beauty. A computer & projector are used during services to project images or words to songs onto a large screen. The Chapel can seat up to 300 in comfortably padded chairs, usually arranged in a semi-circle.
We have 6 classrooms and an Assembly Room in our Youth Education wing, 5 offices, a Bookstore/Lobby area, and a well-equipped kitchen. The other half of the octagon is a large patio that looks out over the hills and our neighbor's small lake.
This 21 acre tract of rolling pastureland also has an outdoor amphitheatre and stage, and a cosmic outhouse near lovely Roberson Creek.
