Wednesday, May 7  The Past Lives of Children ~  7-9pm  with Danielle Creeksong. When her 18-month-old barely verbal daughter became severely agitated, flailing a toy pony to and fro--and speaking rapid gibberish that sounded remarkably like another language--the little girl's mother could only think: "Oh no, here we go again!" Within minutes, her daughter's face became purple from the inner distress, frightening the mother further into a feeling of helplessness with the situation. And then the little one's grandmother walked in...

As "luck" would have it, this grandmother had over 20 years experience in past life healing work. Calming the energy for everyone (including herself!) within the room, she shifted her visual mode into an intuitive state, entering with her granddaughter into the lifetime she was so violently upset about. Within minutes they worked through the lifetime, her granddaughter then sending her own past life aspect on to the Light at the end of the tunnel!

In tonight's lecture, Creeksong will recount a number of past lifetime experiences that arose spontaneously for her granddaughter, explaining how ANYONE, whether parent, grandparent, aunts or uncles, can learn to recognize and assist children in healing past life trauma. Because unfinished business from our past lives plays a heavy role in how we magnetize people and events in our world, learning to recognize and help heal your child's past lives can have a major impact on developing strong self esteem and establishing an early and personal connection to the Divine.

Creeksong has been in private practice for over 20 years following a spontaneous kundalini opening. Recently she shifted her focus to the advanced past/present life regression techniques trained to her by the Devas, Nature Consciousness and the Masters, known as: soulcoalescence™. Her private sessions, in office or by phone, are most like transpersonal psychology, and rapidly spur intuitive abilities while promoting personal growth. Contact her at: creeksong@soulcoalescence.com or (828)254-2017.

Sunday,   June 8 Sri Sri Sri Shivabalayogi ~ 7pm.  Meditation stills the mind by eliminating all thoughts. When thought is eliminated only pure awareness remains. Meditation helps in dealing with stress, worry and physical illness. It is an inner search for who we are and our true purpose in life. For thousands of years, ancient seers and saints practiced a meditation technique that not only brought them peace of mind and self healing, but also God Realization. This ancient technique, called “Dhyan Yoga,” is what Sri Sri Sri Shivabalayogi, “Swamiji,” teaches.

From the age of 14, for the next 12 years, Sri Shivabalayogi meditated for 23 hours a day for 8 years, and then 12 hours a day for another 4 years, to become a God-Realized Yogi. Sri Swamiji embodies the physical and spiritual presence of Sri Shivabalayogi, who left his body in 1994, and continues his mission to bring people into the line of meditation to help create a more peaceful world. Through his yogic power, knowledge and unconditional love, Sri Swamiji brings us closer to our true selves and to the Almighty Consciousness of the Universe.

You are invited to experience this unique opportunity to meet with Sri Swamiji and feel forever changed through his grace, love and divine energy. All programs are free and open to all. They include one hour of silent meditation followed by kirtan, the singing of devotional songs, and an opportunity to speak with Sri Swamiji individually and receive his blessings and guidance. www.shivabalayogiguru.org.

Satsang with Swami Paramanandji Maharaj ~ 7pm ~ Recognized by thousands of people in India as an enlightened being, Swamiji teaches from the Vedanta philosophy, which believes there is just one soul that pervades through out the universe. God, The Supreme Soul, is the Universe and we are all part of or a reflection of that existence.
His message is simple; ‘Know Thyself’…and his techniques to attaining this knowledge are as vast as the ocean.  Under his guidance, many have been led to recognize the eternal divinity that resides within each and every one of us.  Swamiji tells us that we are the Ocean, but that momentarily we have forgotten who we are and think that we are an individual wave instead.  We are in the process of remembering our true essence.  It is through understanding and experiencing ourselves that we can attain our true soul consciousness, remembering who we are and why we have come here. It is then that we may be the playful wave that knows it is the Ocean and retain a deep peace within the Oneness. www.swamiji.info  Love Offering. Both men and women are asked to dress modestly in respect for the customs of India.
Women: Modest, loose fitting clothing is most respectful – i.e. long skirts/dresses, long tops (tunic) with loose full pants. It is customary and respectful for women wear a shawl or scarf across their chest in the presence of a saint. Men: Long loose pants and long-sleeve loose shirts  Shoes: Shoes will be off more than on – you may want to wear something that will slip off easily. Avoid bringing anything leather as the cow is considered a sacred animal.

Gifts/Prasad - In his country, Swami receives flowers, fruit, candy and other items as gifts that he then blesses and gifts back to attendees.  Let your heart guide you.

Programs are on Donation Basis - Swami does not charge for his teachings …
Your generous donations help support his work and travel.

Born in 1938, Swamiji grew up in a small village in Northern India.  As a child he would spend hours meditating and standing on one leg in the sacred river, and sought the company of elders and wise ones.  The Great Saint Sri Swami Akhandnand Maharaji recognized the boy’s qualities and took him as a disciple.  To attain spiritual knowledge, Parmanand renounced the worldly life, leaving his home and family.  Under his guru’s guidance he became versed in the Hindu scriptures, became a master of yoga and meditation, and while still a youth was initiated into Sainthood as Swami Parmanandji.  He did not retreat into the Himalayas but instead entered into society to share the gifts of his experiential knowledge.  He chose the path of a Karma Yogi and dedicated his life for the welfare of humanity.  His full title is, Yugpurush Acarya Maha Mandeleswhar Swami Parmanand Giri Maharaji. For 5 decades, he has guided others to their own self-realization and worked towards the betterment of humanity. In Celebration of the 50th anniversary of his Sainthood, hundreds of thousands of devotees came to pay tribute to him.

He has fostered hundreds of service projects through Akhand Paramdham, the non-profit organization that manages his vast array of projects. Over 24 spiritual community ashrams have been established where sadhus and serious spiritual seekers are provided refuge amidst the sacred grounds of devotional temples throughout north and central India.  Throughout the year, Swamiji travels to the various ashrams, teaching the Vedant and guiding students in a variety of self-realization techniques in his popular yoga and meditation intensive camps.

He has established 11 schools and colleges in remote areas of India that provide opportunities for those who otherwise would not be able to get an education. Under his patronage, a number of children’s homes have also been established as an alternative to orphanages, women’s shelters and old age homes.  The concept is to provide a loving family environment where each child is nurtured, where single women can provide the tender care the child needs, and elders who might otherwise be in an old age homes have the chance to play grandparent roles.  There are no blood relationships within the family but each person contributes to the natural well being of the other and emulates a natural family.

To assist the economic empowerment of women, Swamiji has set up programs that teach a variety of skills such as embroidery, knitting, sewing and fabric painting. He has also opened large community meditation centers which teach meditation as a peacemaking tool to achieve cooperation and harmonious relations between people, their communities, the nation and the global village we live in. Akhand Paramdham has opened 5 hospitals with full modern facilities, offering aurevedic as well as homeopathic treatment at low or no cost, serving over 1,000 each day.  In an effort to promote cultural nationalism as well as international unity, all of Akhand Paramdham’s projects seek to instill cooperation, diversity and an awareness of the divinity within all of life.

Swami Parmanandji first came to America when invited to address the World Millennium Peace Summit of Spiritual leaders in the year 2000 at the United Nations.  He has returned to the US every year since, and now travels worldwide teaching, giving darshan and imparting knowledge as an initiation, passing on Divine dynamic power to those who are ready to receive it. Today he has hundreds of thousands of devotees around the world.  Dozens of books have been written about his teachings and techniques and 7 have been translated into English.  Akhand Paramdham publishes a quarterly magazine in English, featuring Swami’s discourses and engagement schedule. Many audio CD’s and videos of Swami’s teachings are also available.  Swamiji’s personal lifestyle and concern for humanity is evident by his tireless selfless service.

Dada will give an audio-visual presentation about the history of meditation & what it is, and through some simple guided exercises, he will demonstrate how it works. He will introduce the group to a universal technique of spiritual meditation which you can practice at home.

Originally from New Zealand, Dada has been playing music all his life, and was ordained as a monk of Ananda Marga Yoga Society in 1979.  Combining his spiritual training and knowledge of the science of Mantra with his considerable musical skills, he has created an uplifting presentation on a theme of love for the Creator and His Creation, titled ‘Warriors of the Rainbow’.

Dada meditating on the coast of Ireland

Although he is a yogi, Dada’s music is western rather than Indian in style. He plays guitar and sings devotional songs and chants, interwoven with humor, spiritual stories and images of nature. Dada’s presentations are always a moving and spiritual experience.

Dada has received invitations to conduct performances and workshops from all over the world. He is a the author of a highly acclaimed book on meditation; ‘Close Your Eyes & Open Your Mind.’  www.eternalwave.com or www.myspace.com/dadanabhaniilananda

What people say about Dada Nabhaniilananda’s music:
"Through his message and beautiful music, Dada Nabhaniilananda inspired us to re-commit to our meditation practice. He is so centered, and his presence is at once calming and energizing. He is an articulate speaker and an accomplished musician... I expected that, having listened to his CD. What surprised us both was how closely the philosophy of the Tantric Yogi's aligns with Unity teachings ... a beautiful example of how Unity weaves Eastern and Western spirituality." - Rev. Catherine Padgett, Unity Church, Greensboro NC

"Dada Nabhaniilananda offers an authentic and sincere sharing of heartfelt song and guitar. His gentle demeanor, combined with a loving and compassionate perspective and refreshing sense of humor, provides his audience with a gratifying experience of original music and soulful fellowship. We will certainly re-engage Dada for another presentation at Unity in the near future." - David Richter, Director of Music, Unity Center of Peace Church, Chapel Hill NC

"I highly recommend Dada Nabhaniilananda as an excellent musician and meditation teacher. He is delightful and deep, in his music and his insights about meditation and life itself. His course and concert are a superb complement to any meditation class or program you may have going at your Unity Centre. Enjoy his delightful spirit and his loving soul." -John Wingfield, Director, Unity Centre, Maidenhead, UK

Review: New Renaissance Magazine, UK

From the softly strummed opening chords, the restrained and tasteful instrumentation places the melody, the message and Dada's warm voice at the heart of every track. You may not expect this kind accessibility from a mystical monk, but Dada's songs grab your attention like a smile.  These intimately honest songs ache with the kind of pain that is inseparable from all love, including alas! the love for God. Fans of Dada's special knack for epic songwriting, that made "Warriors of the Rainbow" shine with majesty and grandeur, will not be disappointed.... As the title track's rousing chorus ends, I feel some of "the Magic" Dada sings about linger in the air, and the future, in these days of war and conflict, looks just a bit brighter. Truly uplifting music.

Review: Rio Times 1992 (translated from Portugese)
Concert at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit
Dada Nabhaniilananda gained a lot of new fans in Rio last night. Following John Denver’s solo performance, the singer/songwriter from New Zealand, backed by a group of hot Brazilian musicians, came on stage for an hour long set. No-one knew quite what to expect from this smiling monk in orange robes but they didn’t wonder for long. Within moments he had them on his side, his clear melodic voice transcending any language gap. Brazilians know quality musicianship when they hear it, and they showed their appreciation with pin-drop silence, the crowd of 5000 plus listening as I’ve seldom seen them do. If a special atmosphere prevailed, it should have, for this was the beginning of a night long spiritual vigil incorporating diverse religious and spiritual groups. Dada’s songs were perfect for the occasion.  ...this was part the “Earth Summit”, an international gathering of more than 30,000 people united by a concern for social justice and a sustainable future for the world. When the band performed “Warriors of the Rainbow”, the title track of Dadas’ last album, a kind of anthem for the environmental movement, at the song's dramatic climax the audience went a little wild, which in Brazil means very wild indeed! This was followed by spiritual love songs, tales of struggle against oppression, songs of hope and compassion – moving stuff.... Part of the beauty of the whole experience was that although this was undoubtedly music with a message, it was presented with such simple honesty and obvious native talent that I only wanted to listen. It was over all too soon, but I’ve got the album, so I can reminisce. The vigil continued all night with chanting, dance, meditation, and at dawn the stage opened again. Just before the Dalai Lama, the guest of honour, came on to speak, Dada was again on stage, accompanied by Paul Winter in a spiritual chant in which the much larger crowd of more than 10,000 joined. Magic!

~ October, 2008 ~

Wednesday, Oct 1 Blessing of the Animals - 7:00pm. Rev. Chad O'Shea will bless the animals outdoors at the church.  All well-behaved humans and their animal companions are welcome.

While the tradition of holding this service is usually traced back to St. Francis of Assisi (whose feast day is on October 4), there are also Judaic and other religious roots. St. Francis preached to the birds, cared for wolves and hens, blessed fish, and used real animals when he created the very first, live Christmas nativity scene.

Several Torah laws mandate the compassionate treatment of animals including an obligation to "take care of one's household animals and to treat them well." The Jewish blessing ceremony is often performed on the seventh day of Passover (in the spring) as a celebration of the Hebrews' (and their animals') emancipation from slavery in Egypt more than 3,000 years ago.

In the Hindu religion, animals that are kept as pets are "to be cared for particularly well." Under Buddhism, animals, as well as humans, have the potential for 'attaining enlightenment.' And, in the Qur'an, the followers of Islam are taught 'that the bond between man and nature is inseparable.' Love Offering.  Click for directions.

"a note to thank all of the people who participated in the Broadway concert. Thank you all for your long hours of preparation. You all outdid last years concert. We thought the choice of show tunes was great and very professionally performed." ~ Linda B.

"Congratulations on putting on the Broadway show last night. It was a beautiful extravaganza and you deserve to be proud... Thanks for giving so much pleasure."  ~ Jay W

"Extraordinary community spirit and talent.... I loved the show." ~ Jean C.

"I just wanted to thank all the wonderful musicians and performers for the great concert we were privileged to see on Friday evening. You were all amazing and we thank you all so much for bringing so much enjoyment to your audiences." ~Joe and Judy W

"... how very much we both enjoyed the show! It was so professional--not what we expected at all! I got excited during the overture (just like I do in NYC) and those folks kept my attention until the end. In fact we couldn't believe the time that had elapsed. There are some really good voices in that company, aren't there; the ensemble numbers were especially fun. My absolute favorite number was Nothing--and that Linda Newman did a fabulous job! We have seen A Chorus Line at least seven or eight times, as (our son) Mark toured in it, and still play the original cast recording; Linda must have it also as she really captured the feeling. The costumes were wonderful... Georgia Pressman should have a gold star as she was great.  I'd say a smash hit all around. Congratulations!" ~ Marjorie T

A Course in Miracles Group- with Pam Hurst. The curriculum the Course proposes is carefully conceived and is explained, step-by-step, at both the theoretical and practical levels. Emphasizing application rather than theory, and experience rather than theology, it states, “a universal theology is impossible, but a universal experience is not only possible but necessary (manual, p77). Although Christian in statement, the Course deals with universal spiritual themes. It emphasizes that it is but one version of the universal curriculum. There are many others, this one differing from them only in form. They all lead to God in the end. (T, ix) Pam states “although we are studying ACIM, it is the application of it in your life that is important. This isn’t mastering the information, it is mastering your life in order you do have the peace that passes all understanding. I call it the master course in forgiveness and the one we need to forgive the most is ourselves." All new and reviewing students are welcome. It is not necessary that you commit to every week. Pam is an Interfaith Minister who has taught ACIM for many years. She is also a National Certified Quantum Touch Instructor and Practitioner. Facilitated by Pam Hurst (828) 400-7898 Love Offering: $10 Suggested.   Click for directions.

Study Group on The Search for God, Book I and Book II ~  A group for the study, meditation, and application of learning how to love, based on Edgar Cayce. Meetings begin & end with prayer, and include: 1. Study & reflection on the content of the lesson - an understanding of spiritual law, of universal law, and of basic premises from which to reason. 2. Meditation which is quickened & focused by the use of an affirmation related to the lesson. 3. The setting of the intent - a statement and commitment to make the insights gained applicable in a very specific way in the personal life of the individual during the ensuing week.

In 1931 a few people asked Edgar Cayce to give them readings about spiritual development. He provided over 131 such readings, and told them, if they wanted to benefit from the information, it would necessary to learn to apply the information given in their daily lives. Through the readings and the experiences of the study group participants, two books, A Search for God, book I & book II, became the textbooks for others to use in their own quest for spiritual growth.

There are only 24 lessons in the books, but it takes about 2 years to study the material in both books. Groups are kept small (6 to 12) so that everyone can be an active participant. Everyone takes a turn as weekly leader. The small size of the group promotes motivation through the support of others based on consistency, persistency, interest, and encouragement by being involved in the same activities. In a group we learn by sharing viewpoints and experiences. Stability and balance is brought to our thoughts and actions through the discussion, sharing, and study of the material. Through weekly exercises of application of principals provided by the material, we hope to gain greater spiritual principles in our daily lives so as not to lose sight of our purpose. The study is serious, but we laugh at ourselves when we need to.

All are welcome to join anytime. Facilitators: Bill B. & Janie A.
