~ This Week at Unity ~
Dec 1
Sing, Pray, Love ~ 7pm with Terri Crosby.
Improvisational singing and sound play.

For anyone with a voice.

Improvisation will scare you, and then free you.

  • Be a better singer in two hours.
  • Think less, sing more, who cares. Learn a little recklessness. It’s never too late.
  • Laugh way too much and feel younger by the time you leave.
  • Lose weight (well, that might be a stretch….)
  • Free your inner singer. You know you want to.
  • Prepare for the Holidays. Everybody can use a little more joy.
Singing can be a profound experience of prayer, meditation or an expression of gratitude. With improvisational sound, which is quite different than singing a known melody, we access a part of ourselves that singing a familiar song does not. Improvisational singing may scare you - and then free you. In freeing you, it quiets the mind, and I bet you’d agree that we could all use a little less runaway thinking.

Wear comfortable clothing and be ready for two hours of fun. We’re going to make sounds of all kinds -- sounds you may consider to be beautiful, and some not so beautiful. It’s all OK. It’s like learning to ski. Once you get the “falling down” part out of the way, you’re less afraid of making a mistake, instantly improving your trips down the mountain, because you are relaxed and responsive -- more in your body and less in your head. Similarly, when you’re relaxed during singing, you breathe more deeply and your sound is fuller and richer. You’re also not busy judging your sound. You’re just enjoying how it feels, and you’re immediately a better singer. All levels of singers and “non-singers” are welcome. Whatever your ability to sing when you come in, you’ll be a better singer when you leave. I promise… Come join us, and sing a little!

Love Offering.  Click for directions.

Dec 8
The Oneness Blessing~ 7pm ~ Deeksha or the Oneness Blessing is a gift of Divine Grace to reconnect or deepen our connection with the Divine within us in whatever way we experience it. This transfer of Divine Energy, over time, is designed to awaken you to your natural state of Oneness. Many experience a quieting of the mind and flowering of the heart. A change in perception of the world around us occurs. This allows you to live life more fully, to experience things as they are without the commentary and chatter of the mind. This significantly reduces the suffering in life. As you experience life as it is, and stop wishing it to be something else, a deep sense of peace and true happiness will dawn. Then true growth, progress, and an improvement in the quality of live can occur more easily. All are welcome. Come and experience it for yourself as hundreds in Asheville already have! Love Offering.  Click for directions.

HeartFull ConnectionsTM - Finding Harmony with Yourself and Others~ 7pm ~ Kaleo Wheeler has developed a unique integrated system to help individuals to reconnect and remember to draw from their highest and most loving self when making decisions in their life and to restore harmony in all of their relationships.

She draws from multiple skills and techniques from both ancient spiritual traditions and modern body/mind integration techniques that she has learned and worked with over the last 25+ years.  The foundation of HeartFull is based on the ancient Hawaiian tradition of “Living the Aloha Spirit” —a gentle, natural tradition that incorporates forgiveness, gratitude and blessing as way of living your life.  The techniques that she shares - including Ho’oponopono, traditional Hawaiian Hula, and traditional Chant and Toning - are simple and practical to do.

Kaleo Wheeler, the founder of Heartfull ConnectionsTM, has over 25 years of professional training and experience in private practice and in teaching & facilitating groups in the US and Canada. This includes teaching at the Omega Institute (Rhinebeck NY) and the Shenandoah University (Virginia).  She has also been on faculty at Eastern Tennessee State University. Everything she does is about helping to heal the Human Condition by helping you to reconnect and remember to draw from your highest and most loving self when making decisions in your life. Kaleo has been fortunate, since the late 80's, to have had the opportunity to live and work with several Hawaiian master teachers in hula, chant, and huna both in Hawai'i and on the mainland. She also apprenticed to a Native American Medicine woman for 14 years and studied with several other Native American Shamans.  She is a Jin Shin Do Bodymnid Acupressure authorized senior teacher and registered acupressurist since 1988, a contributing author of the book, A Complete Guide to Acupressure and an ordained minister.

A voice specialist and certified Somatic Voicework Practitioner, Kaleo trained exclusively with its founder, Jeannette LoVetri in the early 80's and became certified in 2004.  Lovetri's method is based upon the latest developments of vocal medicine and science and promotes healthy vocal use while incorporating a broader philosophy that invites emotional expression and authenticity for singers and speakers.  She has also been doing sound healing since the early 80's and became a Certified Music Practitioner in 1985 through the Music for Healing and Transition Program.  CMP's are trained in playing live therapeutic music at the bedside of the sick and dying. Kaleo's specialty is in helping those who are actively dying to make an easy and comfortable transition to the other side. For more info: call 866-581-4843 or visit Kaleo's website: www.kaleowheeler.com

New Year's Eve at Unity  As the year 2010 completes its cycle and the year 2011 is born... we let go of false beliefs and illusions that do not serve our highest purpose, and open the way for new, fresh insights & inspiration. Prepare for the flowering of your reborn self; release unwanted & limiting patterns such as fear, anger, guilt, and unforgiveness, thereby creating space for new blessings.

In word & song, we remember the past year and those who passed away. In a purification process symbolized by fire, we meditate to discover what we'd like to release, write it down and release it to the burning bowl, where fire takes them away.

Start the new year with this freeing & moving experience to open the door for the unfolding of a new you

7-9 pm

A Course in Miracles Group- with Pam Hurst. The curriculum the Course proposes is carefully conceived and is explained, step-by-step, at both the theoretical and practical levels. Emphasizing application rather than theory, and experience rather than theology, it states, “a universal theology is impossible, but a universal experience is not only possible but necessary (manual, p77). Although Christian in statement, the Course deals with universal spiritual themes. It emphasizes that it is but one version of the universal curriculum. There are many others, this one differing from them only in form. They all lead to God in the end. (T, ix) Pam states “although we are studying ACIM, it is the application of it in your life that is important. This isn’t mastering the information, it is mastering your life in order you do have the peace that passes all understanding. I call it the master course in forgiveness and the one we need to forgive the most is ourselves." All new and reviewing students are welcome. It is not necessary that you commit to every week.
