- Compass which glows in the dark - in the top knob
- Camera or Scope Mount, revealed by unscrewing the top knob
- Measure - inches, feet, 1 meter mark, and 4" 'hand' markings to lay out gardens, measure fish, determine the number hands high of a horse.
- Vertical portion of The Biltmore Stick, invented 100 years ago by Dr. Carl Schenk, who founded America's first School of Forestry in Asheville, NC. This allows you to determine the height of a tree, or cliff through proportional triangulation.
- Made of North Carolina hickory wood with leather hand lanyard and replaceable rubber tip.
- Hidden spike point for wading, walking on ice, litter pick-up, emergency spearing of fish or small game...a real survival tool.
- Instructions for making a third side of your staff into a moving

Hikers, gardeners, parents, birders, naturalists, photographers, geologists, explorers, and adventurers will want the Ultimate Hiking Staff.
The owner can lay out a garden, unobtrusively measure the height of a neighbor's tomatoes, record the growth of children, estimate the height of a tree or building from afar, and weigh diamonds, pirate's gold, possums, growing squash, or trout.
Developed and field tested in Western North Carolina mountains, the birthplace of America's forestry conservation efforts 100 years ago.
The Ultimate Hiking Staff is 54 1/2" tall. A hiking staff swings like a pendulum with very little effort, and the length is excellent when going down hill. A hiking staff is different from a cane (most canes are about 36" tall). Hiking staffs are taller and gripped lightly, thumb through lanyard, about a foot below the top. The staff is positioned on level ground by gently lifting and letting the bottom of the staff swing forward. The top of the Ultimate has a round ball knob (with compass insert) which is comfortable for the hand to grip for positioning the staff when going down a steep hill.
FREE printed historic 'Blessing of the Stick' circa 1200 A.D. comes with
each Ultimate Hiking Staff.

The Ultimate Hiking
Staff is finished in WATCO (tm) Danish Oil, which is a penetrating oil that further
strengthens the already tough and resilient native hickory, from which the
staff is made. This finish can be reapplied over the years to keep your stick
looking beautiful. A leather lanyard helps as one walks along,
and each stick comes with a fascinating and educational User's Guide.
